A Poem About Pregnancy Loss

Water slips over the rocks

Smooth and clear

Runs effortlessly through fingers

Only the sound of gushing water can be heard

The water is everything.

First freeze

Changed everything

Silenced the beautiful noise

Deprived me of such special water

The ice is unbreakable

No going back

A hand meets hard bitter ice

But below

Below is the water

Still flowing

For a moment

I can still hear it

It’s here with me

Still

Always.
