I open the thousand-page book and skim through

My finger stops on a page with no words

I look for more and there they are

Blank 

Someone was supposed to be on this page

There was a story here

There was a history that is now unknown

The only thing known is the erasure

Faded words appear on some pages as the last remnants of a life

A hint towards a rebellion

A voice wanting to be heard

Yet silenced

The white page is blinding

Nothingness becomes equated with importance

Our history is blank

It scared people

So they act as if it never happened

Replacing stories with space.
