Reclaiming

I am reclaiming

this tile floor that I stand on.

That foggy window

I am claiming it

once again

as my own.

The chill of the wind

I reclaim it as it

rushes into my lungs.

My shoes are crushing the leaves

littering the ground

breaking down into the earth;

these leaves are mine.

I spread my arms out like wings

my fingers finally releasing the

fists I thought were permanent.

I am letting the world take me back

I will be here

breathing with the trees

changing with the weather

and being like I was so long before.

I am reclaiming my stolen property

taking back my life as my own

living in this world that is mine.
