War is over

The wall is built

The war is over

Families hug

Children cheer

A little boy doesn’t sleep

A little boy watches

A little boy waits

He waits for the siren

He waits for the guns

He waits for the fighter jets

He waits and watches.

He eats

enough

He doesn’t talk

He watches

The little boy doesn’t rest

The little boy can’t relax

I mean, how could he

after everything he has gone through

After everything that has gone

through him

His skin is still scarred

His head still hurts

His friend is still dead

His home is still destroyed

His head is still haunted

So the little boy waits

The little boy watches

The little boy doesn’t sleep

While the children cheer

And families hug

Because the war is over

The wall is built.
