Trans Studies: By us, for us

Understanding, love, collective, empowerment

Care for us by us

We remember each other’s needs

Even while struggling with our own

Even while exhausted ourselves

We remember and give love

Solidarity not charity

We care with respect

No superiority

We play the roles of giver and receiver

Without resentment, just fatigue

Our survival is dependent on care

Yet it’s far too difficult to obtain this care

We’re often left on on the sidelines

Watching others play the game

While we are injured and ignored by the trainer

Our pain isn’t visible, therefore it doesn’t exist

Visible equals attention

No attention for us

We chose this life, right?

But does that mean that we don’t deserve care?

Or that the care can only come from other trans folks?
